Infrastructure construction works are underway at the international center of border cooperation Khorgos on the border between Kazakhstan and China. In addition, the center is acquiring the status of the Free Economic Zone. Kazakhstan citizens have a visa free entry to Khorgos territory since November 1. The Dry port located nearby is being developed as well. In the future, it will become the largest Central Asian cargo hub. The port’s capacity will be over 500,000 cargo containers by 2020.

Karl GHEYSEN, CEO, KHORGOS GATEWAY:

The first years there is no profit of such a project but there is a payback already in that investment. I will not give you the financial details right now but if you want afterwards we can go because it is a public company, government company.
