Kazakh delegation took part at the 28th international language conference in London. Kazakh was presented at the conference for the very first time. The conference participants were able to learn a bit of Kazakh. Mohan Gupta learnt how to greet in Kazakh. He also learnt much about Kazakhstan, in particular, about the world’s fair to be held in Astana next year.
Mohan GUPTA, RESIDENT OF LONDON:
I’ve been in London for 56 years and I have travelled a little bit around the world. I am looking for something solid here in London. And if I can promote Kazakhstan in London that would have been better.
The conference has allowed the participants to not only present their native languages, but their culture too. Students from Kazakhstan read Abai’s poems and played national instruments. The visitors found the sounding of dombra and kobyz particularly impressive.
Don WEBSTER, RESIDENT OF LONDON:
I liked the musical instruments. Well, the buildings attracted me then, and the older buildings, the colorful buildings and some of the modern buildings as well. It is very interesting. I am very interested to see the cities. And the countryside is very beautiful.
