In Astana, the members of the bilateral Intergovernmental Commission of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan have defined the main directions of cooperation between the two countries. 14 issues relating to economy, culture, tourism and space were on the agenda. The discussion was held in the light of the forthcoming visit of the Head of State to Azerbaijan. Meeting Participants also touched upon the question of tariffing on Aktau and Baku Sea ports.

Kanat BOZUMBAYEV, KAZAKH MINISTER OF ENERGY:

In accordance with our legislation, fort fees in Aktau are collected in tenge, whereas in Azerbaijan it is carried out in U.S. dollar. After the changes in the U.S. dollar rates, our fees became significantly lower. There is no parity, but we have superiority. We have to change our legislation and bring them in line. Therefore two Maritime administrations were instructed to address this issue together and find out common solution during this period.
