Karim Massimov appointed as chairman of National Security Committee of Kazakhstan

Nursultan Nazarbayev introduced the new head of the National Security Committee. Karim Massimov left the post of the Prime Minister and was appointed chairman of the National Security Committee. In addition, former head of the Committee Vladimir Zhumakanov was appointed as the advisor to the President. The current Government of Kazakhstan will perform the duties until the approval of the new composition of the Cabinet. Temporary performance of the Prime Minister’s duties was assigned to the first deputy Bakhytzhan Sagintayev.

 

Nursultan NAZARBAYEV, PRESIDENT OF KAZAKHSTAN:

Under the Constitution, and by the law, the Government was dissolved today. However, the government will continue its work before I will issue a new decree. As soon as the head of the government is selected, I will issue a decree. The new head of the Cabinet will make the proposal on the composition of the new Government.

 

Previously, according to the legislation, the Senate approved the appointment of Karim Massimov to the position of Chairman of the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan by the Head of State in accordance with the 55th article of the constitution. The relevant decision of the Senate deputies was adopted unanimously.
