Specialists of the National Nuclear Center in Kurchatov have developed a comprehensive program for the rehabilitation of the Semipalatinsk test site. Once the funding issue is resolved, dangerous territory will be gradually cleansed. The detoxified land will be further used. In addition, it will be possible to predict the future of the landfill through comprehensive research, scientists believe.

Out of 7,500 square kilometers, only 300 square kilometers are recommended for industrial use only, about 20 square kilometers are not recommended to be used in any way at all, and the rest is recommended to use without restriction.
