New York is preparing to celebrate the International Day against Nuclear Tests established at the initiative of Kazakhstan. The meetings of the Security Council and the Committee on Disarmament carried out in the UN Headquarters. The eventful week program will finish on 31 August by holding a special forum with participation of the international organizations and world's leading experts on nuclear disarmament. Kazakhstan’s mission invites the representatives of all UN member states to pay tribute to the victims of nuclear testing and together stand for peace and security in the world. It is symbolic that this year all the events mark the 25th anniversary of the shutdown of the Semipalatinsk test site. Noting the undeniable leadership of Kazakhstan and its President on the issue of nuclear disarmament, U.S. analysts advise to listen for our country's initiatives.

DARYL KIMBALL, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF ARMS CONTROL ASSOCIATION:

Kazakhstan and Japan are the co-presidents of something called the Article for team process and efforts to try to encourage those states that have not signed or ratified the Comprehensive Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty.
