Over 300 Kazakh gas stations will be united into a single network. According to the initiators, there are several reasons for the creation of a single conglomerate. First, small gas stations experience shortage in oil products which tend to accrue to the larger market players. The merger will create competitive environment. Secondly, often the small gas stations experience difficulties with logistics. It is planned to spend $50 million of private investments to create a network. The project will be implemented within 5 years. Over 1,000 of Kazakhstanis will be provided with jobs. In addition not only gasoline and petrol will be used to refill the cars but also electricity.
Amanai MAKHMETOV, DEPUTY DIRECTOR, KAZAKHSTAN REFINERY:
We will gradually move to rebranding and reconstruction. Perhaps we will even build gas stations in the areas with no stations but with high demand.
