The construction of the new railway station in Astana will be completed in March next year. The station is being constructed according to the latest advanced technology. For instance, the trains will arrive directly into the building with a help of the overpass. The heating complex is designed using the underground heat exchangers. It will be warm in winter and cool in summer here. Power saving lifts and escalators is another green design used in this construction.

The trains will stop off inside the building on the third level. Two closed parking lots will be located under the overpass. Passengers will be able to arrive here freely on both public transport or by private vehicle. The ticket windows will be located on the first and the fourth floors. The station will have six railway lines and one more in reserve.

Old train station’s throughput capacity is 4.6 million passengers per year. Practically it receives 6.7 million passengers per year, according to calculations. This train station is designed for 12.7 million passengers per year.

 

The new train station will be comfortable and designed with attention to details. Passengers will be able to stay at the hotels, eat at restaurants, cafes and food courts. There also will be medical facilities, mother and child rooms. Another peculiarity of the project is the unique architectural design. Overpasses are mounted on elevation; this will let people and vehicles to move freely right under the station.
