Pavlodar residents mourn the Panchenko family who died during the recent terrorist attack in Nice. On that tragic night they came to the Promenade des Anglais to see fireworks in honor of Bastille Day together with all the tourists. Any contact with them was lost after that, later the Foreign Ministry has officially confirmed their deaths. Three people from one family: a 60-year-old Lyubov Panchenko, a 32-year-old Marina Panchenko and her little daughter Sylvia became victims of the terrorist attack.

Radik BULATOV, NEIGHBOR OF PANCHENKO FAMILY:

Extremism should be eradicated especially when innocent people and small children die for someone’s foolish idea.

Artyom ZEMCHENKO, RESIDENT OF PAVLODAR:

It was hard to hear that such horrible thing can happen with our compatriots somewhere far away from our city.

Ilya TERENCHENKO, FAMILY FRIEND:

It appears to be that almost the entire family vanished and only one member survived

Poor health condition saved the head of the family from death. Leonid Panchenko had recently undergone heart surgery and therefore had to stay at the hotel that night. He’s returning back to Pavlodar tomorrow. The same flight will bring home the deceased bodies of his family members.
