The remains of a mammoth have been found in the North-Kazakhstan region. A local resident found a huge bone near the village Zelyonyi Gai. They are lying in a deep ravine. The villagers immediately informed archaeologists about the unusual discovery. The experts confirmed that the fragments belong to ancient animals that inhabited this area nearly 10,000 years ago.

Lyudmila FELK, HEAD OF NATURE DEPARTMENT, REGIONAL MUSEUM:

Fragments of ivory, tubular bones, possibly portions of the vertebrae and ribs - all fragments are splintered because of wind and water erosion. The depth is ten meters; it is not the oldest of the mammoths, I can tell from the bedding.
