National data bank for orphans and children left without parental care presented at the Ministry of Education and Science. All the information necessary for prospective stepparents and guardians will be stored on a special data bank. This is the data regarding gender, age, health status and the presence of the brothers and sisters of the child. According to official data of the Department for child protection, more than 2,000 Kazakhstan citizens are willing to adopt a child to date. The data base is created to speed up this process. The website is still in beta mode, It will be upgraded and modified until the end of the year according to the feedback received from both professionals as well as public figures.

Baliya AKIMBEKOVA, COUNSELOR, KAZAKH MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE:

This is a data base will provide information on number of children that can be adopted, their age, which orphanage they are in. For instance, I am a potential adoptive parent who wants to adopt a child from an orphanage. I live in Astana. Previously, I could receive information only about orphans in Astana but now the new data base provides information from orphanages throughout the country.
