A new system of customs administration ‘Astana-1’ has just recently launched in the capital. It is based on WTO standards. While the system is operating in pilot mode, but within a year, the program is planned to be introduced across Kazakhstan. As it was noted in the State Revenue Committee, the new system greatly simplifies customs procedures. Such functions as self-registration, remote e-declaration, e-payments, the opportunity to choose a customs post and place of goods placement will be available for participants. Also, the system will provide an opportunity to check on the declarants within taxpayer databases and to combat smuggling. 20 participants of foreign economic activity already expressed the wish to participate in the project. By the way, the system doesn’t require any additional equipment. It can be used even with a PC. Presently, these systems are used in 90 countries around the world.

Gosman AMRIN, DEPUTY CHAIRMAN OF KAZAKHSTAN’S STATE REVENUE COMMITTEE:

This system is being introduced in Kazakhstan for the first time and it is different from the system that we have. This is a unified platform, which includes a participant of foreign trade, and a customs officer. An important component is that we get a convenient tool for analytic functions and for information exchange with the Eurasian Economic Union member states.

Vakhtang LASHKARADZE, DEPUTY DIRECTOR GENERAL, GEORGIA REVENUE SERVICE:

This is a benefit in time. Absolutely everything is evident. All importers see how the declaration is filled, as well as how the inspection of goods passes.
