Kazakhstan celebrates historical event being elected as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2017-2018. The Republic has become one of the leading players in world politics on the year of its 25th anniversary of independence. The United Nations includes 193 member countries and only 15 of them are members of the Security Council.  Of them 138 countries supported the candidacy of Kazakhstan in New York.

Great congratulations to Kazakhstan on becoming member of the Security Council for the first time. I hope that you will contribute also to the working procedures of the Security Council. There is a new thinking about how this work should be made in cooperation. Kazakhstan can play a big role here.

 

The United Nations marked the special role of Kazakhstan in promoting peace and security in the world. The global initiatives of President Nursultan Nazarbayev became relevant for all Member States of this authoritative international organization.  Therefore, closure of the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site on August 29 was declared by the UN General Assembly as the International Day against Nuclear Tests and the Manifesto of the Kazakh leader "World. XXI Century "has become an official UN document. Thus, the foreign policy of Kazakhstan is perceived in the world community as a stable and predictable and the world community supports its initiatives.

My sincere congratulations to Kazakhstan for winning a seat in the Security Council. Kazakhstan has led an excellent campaign and this is well deserved and Germany is very much looking forward.

Well, first of all, I would like to start by warmly congratulating great land Kazakhstan on the successful election to the Security Council as a new non-permanent member for the years 2017-2018. Kazakhstan is a very important country in United Nations and also in the world.

And I like to congratulate Kazakhstan on the election to Security Council for the next two years. This is very big for Kazakhstan, I think also is big for UN and for the Danish. Kazakhstan will have laborious work on preparation to the status of a non-permanent UN Security Council member. It includes, training of personnel, particularly of experts on Africa, the Middle East, peacemaking. Now Kazakhstan has the right to convene meetings of the Security Council and to form the agenda of the discussions. This will allow raisin issues relevant for Kazakhstan, attracting the world's attention to them.
