SCO's next summit will be held in Astana in June 2017. Nursultan Nazarbayev took chairmanship of the organization which in the future will be able to combine and control a quarter of the planet. And this anniversary meeting held in Tashkent in Islam Karimov's residence has been named historic since the organization expands to South Asia. The leaders of the SCO member states have not only discussed the procedure for admission of new states into the organization but also gave the official start of Iran's accession process at the 15th Summit.

Nursultan NAZARBAYEV, PRESIDENT OF KAZAKHSTAN:

The entry of India and Pakistan in our Organization marks a qualitatively new stage of the SCO’s development and reflects the growth of its authority and role in the international arena. The possible future accession of Iran into the SCO expands the possibilities of our cooperation. In view of the accession of new member states, the SCO will bring together more than 65% of Eurasian territory and 45% of the world's population, over 19% of global GDP.

Iran’s accession will expand the SCO’s influence on the major part of Asia. If we speak in numbers it is 70% of the Asian territory and 40% of Europe. At the same time the Euro-Asian transit path will be under the exclusive control of the SCO. Nursultan Nazarbayev has immediately offered SCO members to create a Eurasian transport hub. According to the Kazakh leader, the creation of a free trade zone within the SCO is the prospect of the immediate future.

Nursultan NAZARBAYEV, PRESIDENT OF KAZAKHSTAN:

Conjugation of the EAEU and the Chinese project "Silk Road Economic belt" brings broad prospects. I propose to form a Eurasian transit and transport hub that will bring together the SCO member and observer states. For its part, Kazakhstan has already started the implementation of Nurly Zhol infrastructure development program, which is a distinct addition to the EAEU and “Silk Road economic belt”.

The SCO was established 15 years ago. In a short period of time the organization was able to escape the fate of amorphous, fake and bureaucratic organizations. It is already clear that the SCO goes beyond its borders and plays an important role in safeguarding regional security.

Nursultan NAZARBAYEV, PRESIDENT OF KAZAKHSTAN:

Maintenance of stability in Afghanistan is crucially important for regional security. We welcome measures undertaken by Kabul in establishing national dialogue and conduction of political reform. As a party to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, Kazakhstan calls for the resumption of six-party talks on North Korea's nuclear program.

The main outcome of the summit in Tashkent is the conclusion of a long-term process of accession of India and Pakistan. The process is expected to be completed in 2017.

Nursultan NAZARBAYEV, PRESIDENT OF KAZAKHSTAN:

The inclusion of India and Pakistan makes the SCO a global organization. The connection of these two states via transport and logistics points, opening of the economy and revival of the Silk Road - these all gives Kazakhstan tremendous benefits in future.

Vladimir PUTIN, PRESIDENT OF RUSSIA:

Iran has been a quite active SCO observer since 2005. I think that there is no obstacle for approval of Tehran's bid after the Iranian nuclear issue has been set up and sanctions lifted.

Thus, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization challenged to unite Asia, which will become fundamentally strong political and economic structure. It will span promising markets and transit routes.
