This year marks the 160th birth anniversary of famous Kazakh writer, composer, historian and philosopher Shakarim Kudaiberdiuly. Abai museum in Semey opened a unique exhibition displaying more than 100 exhibits. Personal belongings of the Kazakh enlightener transferred to the fund by his grand-nephew were exhibited for the first time. The most outstanding exhibits were the wooden shokpar and tobacco grinding ware. 100 years old exhibits are well preserved, experts say. The exhibition is open to visitors all year round. Shakarim's works were made available on the Internet.

BOLAT ZHUNISBEKOV, DIRECTOR, HISTORICAL-CULTURAL AND LITERARY-MEMORIAL RESERVE-MUSEUM OF ABAI:

- Shakarim’s literary legacy has long been invisible. His works were read secretly. Everyone was afraid to expose their love to his poetry. The poet called his poems the armies that are immortal. It is true. His poems are relevant in modern time and people read them.

Abish Kekilbaуev cultural center is being constructed in Aktau as part of the Modernization of Public Consciousness program. The center will be built on an area of 6,500 square meters. The project’s sketch was completed last year. There will be a museum, a theater for a thousand places and a library with modern reading rooms and a fund of 500,000 books. Exhibits and books about the culture and art of the region will be displayed here. Squares with fountains will be built around the center.

KAIRAT AKYBAYEV, HEAD OF AKTAU CONSTRUCTION DEPARTMENT:

 - The project was sent for assessment. If we talk about construction, I think that it should start in 2019. The cost of the project is estimated at 4 billion tenge. These funds will be received only next year.
