Transition of the Kazakh language to the Latin script is being discussed throughout Kazakhstan
Transition of the Kazakh language to the Latin script is being discussed throughout Kazakhstan. Language reform is necessary for integration into the world space, access to new technologies, science and knowledge, experts say. Linguists and philologists are dealing with an important task: to form the phonetic and lexical norms of the Kazakh language in the process of transition to the Latin script. It is necessary to observe the laws of orthoepy and spelling of international and borrowed words.
BOLAT ZHEKSENGALIEV, DOCTOR OF PHILOLOGICAL SCIENCES:
- Writing foreign words is a challenge. In this case, we need spelling rules. These issues will be considered by specialists, including a special linguistic commission set up under the Government of the country. Because spelling rules should be suitable for everyone, especially for our children, so they could easily understand everything.
60 percent of the scientific literature in the world is written in Latin. All global technical discoveries and inventions also occur in this script. Accordingly, the development of the state is inseparably linked to the Latin script, representatives of the intelligentsia believe. They met with students of the Almaty Academy of Economics and Statistics and talked about the benefits of introducing a new alphabet. The Students write compositions in the Latin script.
BAUYRZHAN MARATBEKULY, HEAD OF ETHNIC CENTER, ACADEMY OF ECONOMICS AND STATISTICS:
- I think that the transition to the Latin script will not cause any difficulties for young people. In the future our compatriots will have a great opportunity to acquaint foreign readers with Russian literature. This is an opportunity not only to preserve the rich heritage, but also to bring it to a new level.
