Istanbul hosted a conference where experts discussed transition of the Kazakh language to the Latin script. Scientists and analysts announced that they welcome Kazakhstan's affiliation to the Turkic-speaking world, particularly, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. They also expect that the Kazakh language will expand the borders thanks to the new script and lead to a new turn of the nation’s spiritual revival.

ABDUAKAP KARA, HISTORIAN:

- President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev made an important step towards cultural cooperation with the Turkic world by confirming the transition to the Latin alphabet. This is a big step in terms of dynamic development of the Kazakh language and culture. This was necessary not only for closer cooperation between fraternal countries, but also for Kazakhstan’s development in technology and science.

According to Latvian political scientist and professor at the Baltic International Academy, Mikhail Rodin, the transition to the Latin script is a modern solution that will not only help Kazakhs integrate into the world community, but will also allow young people to be competitive and develop even faster.

MIKHAIL RODIN, LATVIAN POLITICAL SCIENTIST, PROFESSOR, BALTIC INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY:

 - On the one hand, the steps of President of Kazakhstan are welcomed regarding the opportunity to historically join the Turkic world. On the other hand, in my opinion, the transition to the global zone of English won’t be a big and serious problem. I have heard and seen the news from a university newspaper and I’m very sympathetic with them. I see that English has become a commonly spoken language among young people.
