According to professor at Busan Foreign Languages University Wu Du Chan, transition to the Latin script will increase the recognition of Kazakh language in the world. The university positively accepted the news about romanization of the Kazakh language. The university is planning to reform the Abai language teaching at Central Asian studies. According to Professor Wu Du Chan, students had to learn Cyrillic in order to master their Kazakh language and now the Latin alphabet will simplify the learning since English is taught in all South Korean schools.

WU DU CHAN, PROFESSOR, BUSAN FOREIGN LANGUAGES UNIVERSITY:

- For example, I’m 60 years old and it was easier for me to learn Turkish, because we studied either German or French in the school. The transition from Cyrillic to Latin would greatly facilitate the study of the language because it is a familiar alphabet for us. I hope that next year, as part of the state program on the introduction of foreign languages, the university will continue the Kazakh language teaching.

Teachers in Eastern Kazakhstan say that the transition to the Latin script is a natural demand in the world of modern technologies. The teachers claim that it will be easier to learn other languages, especially English, in which the entire world community speaks and writes today.

GULZADA ASANBAYEVA, HEAD OF LANGUAGES DEPARTMENT, EAST KAZAKHSTAN TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY

- How can we benefit by transitioning to the Latin script? Of course, there are many opinions. The transition will give our children the opportunity to learn English faster and I consider this as a positive point. Now all schools have the trilingual education system. We have to speak in English very well since there is a trend to ensure the world with no boundaries in the future. Thus, speaking in English is a priority.
