EXPO-2017: Volunteers selected to work in the pavilion of the country in South Korea
South Korea selected volunteers among local and foreign students who will work in the country’s national pavilion at EXPO 2017. They took training on Kazakh and Russian languages, and attended lessons on alternative energy. They passed a competitive selection a month ago in order to represent South Korea in Astana. One of the selection requirements was Kazakh, Korean, English or Russian languages skills.
CHOI YON SON, VOLUNTEER, SOUTH KOREA:
- I took two examinations. At the first one, I told about myself. At the second, I demonstrated my foreign language skills. Among four contestants who passed the selection I was the only one speaking Kazakh. I think this is why they have selected me.
Volunteers swear an oath to worthily represent South Korea at Astana EXPO 2017. One of the volunteers is the hero of the famous cartoon ‘Pororo’ and South Korean actor, Seo Kang-Joon.
SEO KANG-JOON, SOUTH KOREAN ACTOR:
- I met my Kazakh fans last year. They were so welcoming. This year, I became an ambassador of the South Korean pavilion at Astana EXPO 2017. I will tell about my country and the best Korean energy-saving technologies. Welcome to South Korean pavilion!
Volunteers will be working at the exhibition for more than three months. They will tell about Korea's energy-saving technologies and go on excursions around Kazakhstan.
