Development of hydropower in the Central Asian region was discussed Tbilisi - Kazakh TV

Development of hydropower in the Caspian and in the whole Central Asian region was the main topic of discussion at the international congress in Tbilisi. More than 100 experts, representatives of the private sector and government officials from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and a number of other countries gathered together to find joint solutions to promoting green energy. Experts spoke about the need for stronger international cooperation in ensuring the effective implementation of investment projects, as well as construction of new power plants and modernization of the existing ones.

ROMEO MIKAUTADZE, DEPUTY MINISTER OF ECONOMY, SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND ENERGY OF GEORGIA:

 - It is not accidental that this event takes place in Tbilisi second year in a row. This shows that the policy of Georgia in this area is correct, which causes considerable interest from foreign companies, in particular from those in Central Asia - Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.

The countries of the Central Asian region are paying higher attention to the development of green technologies. Kazakhstan is set to lead the expansion of the alternative energy use. Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has highlighted this in his recent national address. Senior official of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Brazil Antonio Junqueiro believes such projects will form the basis of the most promising way to develop the entire energy complex both in the republic, and in the whole region.

ANTONIO JUNQUEIRO, DEPUTY COORDINATOR FOR TECHNICAL COOPERATION, FOREIGN AFFAIRS MINISTRY OF BRAZIL:

 - The President of Kazakhstan, in his last address to the people, spoke about the need to critically rethink the organization of the raw materials industry and approaches to the management of natural resources. Now many countries use various instruments of "green economy" in their national policies and development strategies. You do it too and we see it. We also support your President’s visions that measures to further develop the resource potential need to be reinforced at the legislative level.
