A wind power station will be built in the Burilinsky district of the West Kazakhstan region
To increase the share of renewable energy to 30% by 2030 and to 80% by 2050 - this task was set by the President of Kazakhstan in his Address. Energy Ministry reported that electricity production from alternative sources increased by 22% last year. In 2018, it is planned to introduce 10 more energy resource facilities. The main direction of the green economy of the republic is the energy of wind, water and the sun. Kazakhstan's potential in using alternative energy sources is attracting more foreign investors. Businessmen have invested in the development of renewable energy in the western Kazakhstan. The production of solar batteries was established on the basis of an industrial park.
MASSIMILIANO CASTAGNINI, PROJECT MANAGER:
- We are ready to prepare a new line for the production. We have a site and we are ready to start this new production.
In the near future a wind power station will be built in the Burilinsky district of the West Kazakhstan region. A project worth almost 40 billion tenge will be built on 100 hectares. Modern Dutch equipment - 50 wind generators will be installed on site.
ALDIYAR KHALELOV, GOVERNOR, BURLINSKY DISTRICT:
- This year they will develop design and estimate documentation. Prior to this, they have conducted necessary examination and an analysis of the wind direction. After that it was decided to build the wind power station here. Installation works will begin in 2019 and according to the signed memorandum, they are planning to launch a wind power plant in 2020.
Almaty region is another region where "green" technologies are being actively developed. A special program was developed to increase the amount of alternative energy produced. Five projects have been implemented in the region as part of this program over the past two years. One of them is a hydropower plant on the Kora River with a capacity of 28.5 megawatts.
VITALY BORISENKO, HEAD OF HYDROELECTRIC POWER STATION:
- We have an operator's room here - this is the control center of our entire enterprise. It is operated by one person. Everything is automated. HEP is environmentally friendly. We do not change the chemical composition of water, we return the same water back to the river.
There are 20 small hydroelectric power stations in Almaty region. In addition to hydropower, the region is going to launch wind and solar projects. In the next two years local authorities are planning to build 11 wind, three solar and one bio-electric power station.
NURLAN SHAYAKHMETOV, SPOKESPERSON, DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY AND HOUSING OF ALMATY REGION:
- 46 power stations will be put into operation at the second stage from 2020 to 2025. These are 25 hydroelectric power stations, 11 wind power stations, 10 solar power plants.
Huge opportunities and potential in the field of renewable energy in Kazakhstan attract large foreign investors. According to experts, the further development of alternative energy will be positively affected by the transition to the auction system. This will make the process transparent when selecting economically viable projects. The intention to participate in their implementation has already been expressed by well-known international companies from Saudi Arabia, Canada, the United States and China.
