Kazakhstan plans to implement more than one hundred innovative energy projects which were presented at Astana EXPO 2017. This was reported by the representatives of Kazakh Energy Ministry. Until the end of October, local companies and mayor’s office will present the roadmap with a list of selected technologies.

SERGEY KOSTIN, DEPUTY DIRECTOR, EXPLOITATION DEPARTMENT, KAZTRANSOIL:

- These operating technologies will be manufactured here. We contacted the producers and invited them. After calculating the economic feasibility, the technologies will be implemented at the facilities to supply ventilation, lighting and heating systems.

According to the representatives of the Kazakh Energy Ministry, in general, the inventions by scientists from Austria, Germany, Russia and Finland are taken into consideration for local application. Implementation of developments will help increase the country’s energy efficiency. For example, the German technology Smart Grid which can reduce energy losses during long distance transmissions, will allow Kazakhs to save money.

AINUR SOSPANOVA, DIRECTOR OF RENEWABLES DEPARTMENT, KAZAKH MINISTRY OF ENERGY:

- Technologies from the expo can be applied. We asked our experts to look for the technologies which can be applied in enterprises and in the city’s economy. We didn’t ask to look for the technologies with academic scientific purposes that could be implemented in universities.

Foreign countries are showing interest in the Kazakh projects. Aleksander Borisenko from Karagandy attracted investors from Germany to build a facility for the disposal of household waste. In the near future, one of the German enterprises will begin production of equipment invented in Kazakhstan.
