The 'Golden Man' exhibit caused great interest in China

One of the main historical exhibits of Kazakhstan, the Golden Man caused great interest in China. An exhibition titled ‘The Heritage of the Great Steppe: Masterpieces of Jewelry Art’ was held in a museum in Xi’an city in Shaanxi province. In addition to the famous Saka artefact, the Golden Man, the collection also included silver dishes with runic writings discovered in the Issyk kurgan, a belt with leopard engravings dating back to the 5th to 4th centuries BC and jewellery pieces of the 15th century.

WEN JUN, SENIOR STAFF, MUSEUM OF SHAANXI PROVINCE, CHINA:

 - It is our first joint exhibition with the National Museum of Kazakhstan held in China. We brought Terracotta warriors to Kazakhstan during the EXPO exhibition. The Kazakh people were very interested. This time, the Golden Man provided the opportunity for our residents to learn more about the Kazakh history.

The area of Xi’an museum is 65,000 square meters. Its collections include more than 300,000 items, which demonstrate the history of Shaanxi province from ancient times to present days. Every day, the museum is visited by tourists from all over the world.

WEN JUN, SENIOR STAFF, MUSEUM OF SHAANXI PROVINCE, CHINA:

 - I enjoyed the exhibition. I liked the jewellery items, especially bracelets. I am amazed at their skilful performance. Previously, I read in books about Kazakhstan, however, at this exhibition, I learned more about the country.

After China, the Golden Man will be exhibited in Azerbaijan, Poland and South Korea. In 2019, exhibitions will also be held in Japan, Georgia, the United Kingdom, Spain and Turkey.
