An exhibition of Taiwanese artists works opened in the National Museum in Kazakhstan

An ancient oriental horoscope created many years ago, has not lost its popularity even today. Artists traditionally paint these animals on the eve of New Year. It is a common belief that a house that contains images or statuettes of the animals will attract good luck. The National Museum of Fine Arts of Taiwan hosts an annual art competition of a zodiac animal symbolizing the following year. Kazakhs can view the work collection of the Taiwanese artists at a special exhibition that was opened at the National Museum.

NICHOLAS HSU, DIRECTOR OF CULTURE DIVISION, REPRESENTATIVE OFFICE OF TAIWAN IN MOSCOW:

 - We have a tradition on the eve of New Year. We hang drawings of zodiac animals out at home. It brings good luck and wealth.

ANDREY MARTYNOV, EXHIBITION CURATOR:

 - The techniques are very diverse. These are techniques of printed graphics: linocut, woodcut and silkscreen. Moreover, recently many artists have started using digital technologies. At this exhibition, you can see combined traditional techniques with digital technology.
