Exhibition ‘Ybyrai Altynsarin – great teacher and educator’ opened in Astana
Astana is hosting a traveling exhibition of the original copies of rare books dated back to the 19th century, ethnographical collections, personal belongings and research works of the great Kazakh educator Ybyrai Altynsarin. The event, dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Astana, is held in the National Center of Manuscripts and Rare Books. More than 100 unique exhibits belong to Kostanay Regional Memorial Museum named after Altynsarin. The exhibition includes written publications, archival materials, and household items reflecting the life and activities of the prominent Kazakh writer. According to experts, the most valuable exhibits include a case for bedding items of the Altynsarin family and the original copy of a rare book ‘Sharigatul Islam’.

- This book was donated to the museum in 2008 by Yertai Kazhi Balakhmetuly, the grand imam of Kostanai regional mosque. This book was written by Ybyrai Altynsarin. This case was donated to the museum in 1992 by a resident of Lenger town in Southern Kazakhstan, Gulsana Bektemirova who received it from her grandmother Razia who was a sister of Ybyrai Altynsarin’s wife.
