In Pavlodar region was hold literature events in honor of Abai Kunanbeyev

The great Kazakh poet and educator, Abai Kunanbeyev’s 173rd birth anniversary is marked all over Kazakshtan. Organizers in Pavlodar region held literature events, research-to-practice conferences and library installations of the poet’s works dedicated to the founder of Kazakh written literature. Regional literature experts also held Abai readings, where participants demonstrate their oratorical skills and reciting the poem of the great poet. Admirers of the philosopher also performed musical compositions at the ‘Abai Sazger’ competition.

GARIFOLLA YESSIM, ABAI EXPERT, ACADEMICIAN:

- Akkuly district is hosting the Days of Abai that are held here for the 7th time. It has become a wonderful tradition. We can see that the region is developing and prospering.

ZHULDYZ TEMESHOVA, LIBRARIAN:

- Many books by Abai are currently delivered to the library, including ‘Words of Edification’, ‘Abai Studies’ and Abai’s multi-volume books. We have students and youth who are interested in the books. Pensioners are also reading these books.  

Meanwhile, a campaign titled ‘Abai’s Legacy is the National Heritage’ was held in Uralsk to mark the poet’s birth anniversary. A competition was held to test the knowledge of participants on the poet’s works. The participants recited works of the great author and excerpts from Words of Edification. They also sang songs based on Abai’s poems. A book about the poet’s life and creative path was presented at a book exhibition. Librarians presented a collection of Abai’s most popular works.

INABAT RAKHAT, CONTESTANT:

- I know by heart Abai Kunanbayev’s 50 poems and four Words of Edification. I took part in all city competitions. Abai was a very distinguished and wise person. He used to say that knowledge is powerful. He promoted education among the Kazakh people.

NURGALI ZHOLDASKALIYEV, BRANCH CHAIRMAN, ZHAS OTAN YOUTH WING:

- We are currently working in social media on promotion of the great Abai’s legacy. Our youth use the #learn Abai hashtag to post their poems about Abai or recite by heart the works of the Kazakh poet.
