‘Projection of future’ exhibition in Astana
Astana is an incredible combination of architectural traditions of the East and the elegance of the West. The exposition titled ‘Projection of the Future’ was held in Astana to mark the 20th anniversary of the city. The exhibition reflects the development of Astana since the transfer of the capital from Almaty to Akmola, and demonstrates the main achievements of the city. There are more than 300 documents, about 200 pictures and 50 exhibits at the exposition. In the past, a special competition was announced for the best architectural design of Astana. Artists and architects from all over the world participated in the competition. The project of the famous Japanese master Kisho Kurokawa was recognized as the best among more than 50 works.
ZHANAT ZHUMAKHMETOVA, EXPERT OF GUIDING SERVICE:
- The first residence of the president of Kazakhstan is presented at this display stand. There is a table in the ‘Golden Hall’ of the museum, used by Nursultan Nazarbayev to discuss the new architectural design of Astana with Japan’s chief architect Kisho Kurokawa. You can see that very moment in this picture. In addition, there is a special document on the display stand, which is the master plan of Astana, created by Kisho Kurokawa in 1997.
KULYAYSHA AKTAYEVA, DEPUTY DIRECTOR, KAZAKH FIRST PRESIDENT’S LIBRARY:
- 90 percent of the pictures are exhibited here for the first time. The unique materials were collected as part of the thorough work performed by the staff. At this exhibition, we tried to show the visitors not only materials related to the history of our capital, but also the future of Astana.
