Korean culture center marks lunar New Year
Lunar New Year or Seollal was marked in the Korean cultural center in Astana with dances and songs. The celebration is popular in Korea. The rich concert program was prepared in the ethno cultural center. The staff of the center demonstrated traditional games, culinary masterpieces and national customs. Traditionally, Koreans pay tribute to elders. Sabe is a special ceremony, during which young people bow to their elder relatives. During the holiday it is important to forget about adversities and share joy instead. More than 100,000 Koreans live in Kazakhstan.

- The Korean Seollal can be compared with the celebration of Nauryz in Kazakhstan. On this day, people play traditional games, dance groups prepare festive performances and people sing a number of folk songs. Koreans cook special New Year soup ‘Tteokguk’. This year we decided to organize such a holiday for all visitors of our center.
