Kazakhstani theaters win foreign audience

Kazakhstani theaters are winning the hearts of foreign audience and promoting the Kazakh national art. Astana Opera successfully represented Kazakhstan at the international level in 2017. The troupe toured to the famous Mariinsky Theater, the Royal Opera House Muscat and the Italian Carlo Felice. In addition, Astana Opera’s symphony orchestra, chorus and ballet troupe brilliantly performed in Hungary. According to the management, this year the theater will tour a lot as well.

TOLEUBEK ALPIYEV, FIRST DEPUTY DIRECTOR, ASTANA OPERA:

 - We will stage the opera "Abai" in Genoa in December, and we will show the ballet, we have not decided which one yet. There are three big agencies that gladly invited our troupe to Japan. It is very important for us to be in Japan. There are also invitations to Europe, an invitation from Valencia, and many other offers.

Tours make our artists more popular abroad. The theater’s repertoire is replenished with masterpieces of national and world classics. This year, Astana Opera will present the ballet ‘Kozy Korpesh and Bayan Sulu’ by Kazhgaliyev and other premieres.

TOLEUBEK ALPIYEV, FIRST DEPUTY DIRECTOR, ASTANA OPERA:

 - Right after the tour to Almaty we will stage "Birzhan Sarah". Then we will start preparing for “Corsair", it's going to be a long process. After the "Corsair", we are preparing for the next one. Now we are negotiating with Timur Bekmambetov, I do not know whether it will work out or not, we want to stage Puccini's Turandot. Imagine, it's a huge opera. The 20th anniversary of Astana will approach by that time, there will be many events. In August, we will begin to prepare "The Barber of Siberia".

Another achievement for the Kazakh art was the tour of the young theater Astana Musical in Europe. The troupe successfully presented the production of "Kyz Zhibek" to the foreign audience as part of the big concert tour "Uly Dala Theater". The artists were applauded in France, Belgium, Austria and Russia. According to critics, the theaters’ foreign tours demonstrate the competitiveness and relevance of the Kazakh art in the world.
