Art expands the cultural boundaries between the countries of Central Asia. There are more than sixty professional theatres in Kazakhstan such as dramatic, puppet and ethnic, reflecting the traditions and the history of nationalities living in the republic.  Gorky Drama Theater in Astana brought together unique team of artists from various states. Bekpulat Parmanov, Sergei Matveyev, Svetlana Fortuna, Barzu Abdurazakov - all of them came from Central Asian countries. At present, their names are known all over the world. They have always attached great importance to strengthening cultural and historical ties.

YERKIN KASENOV, DIRECTOR, GORKY THEATER:

- The theatrical art of Kazakhstan is developing very dynamically, the cultural borders between the CIS countries and Central Asia are expanding. More cultural events are being held. The theatre’s tours to the European countries give us an incentive to improve.

Gorky Theatre’s repertoire can satisfy the taste of the most sophisticated spectator. Among the famous productions are "Eugene Onegin", "Mankurt - eternal slave", "Primadonna", "Tomiris - Queen of Saki" and many others. Each theatrical performance is a real gift for connoisseurs of stage art.

The role of Anna Karenina is the most difficult and profound for the leading actress Svetlana Fortuna. Blanche Dubois, Margarita, Jane Perkins - she played bright characters of about two dozen heroines. Having moved from her native Bishkek to Astana, she almost immediately won the love of local viewers.

SVETLANA FORTUNA, ACTRESS, GORKY THEATER:

- This is a platform for self-realization, that is, I understand that I am engaged in such a profession, which I adore. I think if every citizen in our country was doing something he likes, it would probably be an ideal society, an ideal state. I know how to act. I can convey the emotions of my characters.

BEKPULAT PARMANOV, CHIEF DIRECTOR, GORKY THEATRE:

- A good theatre always attracts spectators. When a good team performs an interesting repertoire, the public is very active today

Chief director Bekpulat Parmanov has staged more than two dozen performances in different genres in the theatre. He believes that the theatre, like any other art, brings people together. The most interesting projects are implemented in the theatre.

BEKPULAT PARMANOV, CHIEF DIRECTOR, GORKY THEATRE:

- Actors should not be locked only in their narrow space. We are closely connected with each other, and we work with the best directors. This reveals the inner creative potential of the cast, of course, this makes the team  more harmonious.

At present, the theatre’s repertoire includes about 30 performances on the works of Kazakh and world drama. The new 117th theatre season will be featured by staging the best premieres and productions for a wide variety of tastes.
