YOUNG KUI COMPOSER GIVES CONCERT IN ASTANA
Young Kazakh composer Galamat Beisekozhy gave a concert in Astana. The 16-year-old composer wrote more than 20 kuis and other musical arrangements for dombra. The composer presented the "Tales of the Great Steppe" concert program for the city audience. It included works from the young musician’s personal repertoire as well as compositions by Kurmangazy, Tattimbet and Dina Nurpeisova. Despite his young age, Galamat Beisekozhy is a mature artist. He is a laureate of many national and international prizes. He composed the first kui ‘Galamat’ at the age of 10 and dedicated it to the great Abai Kunanbayev.
GALAMAT BEISEKOZHY, COMPOSER:
- I dreamt of playing this amazing instrument from the very childhood, I saw my elder brother playing it and was amazed. I went to musical school when I was 6, started playing dombra, I’ve been playing dombra and writing kuis for ten years now.
Young composer Galamat Beisekozhy is planning to tour to Moscow and present the audience the incredible music of Kazakh kuis.
