The world’s most talented young musicians came to Astana. Tchaikovsky International Competition is being held for the first time in Kazakhstan. Pianists, violinists and cellists aged up to 17 years old came from 20 to show their talents in the prestigious musical contest. The best virtuosos will be identified after three stages of the musical competition. The event is held as part of Astana EXPO 2017.

 

IVAN SCHERBACK, DIRECTOR GENERAL, INTERNATIONAL TCHAIKOVSKY COMPETITION:

 - The exhibition’s theme is Future Energy. Nothing else can better reflect the essence of the exhibition as young and promising musicians inspired to create the new future. Many of them will become famous musicians if not laureates in 10 or 15 years.  

 

AIMAN MUSSAKHАJAYEVA, RECTOR, KAZAKH NATIONAL ARTS UNIVERSITY:

 - Holding this competition is a great honor for Kazakhstan. I want our young musicians to feel the competition’s atmosphere in their home country, so that it could whip them up to win and open up their talents.

 

The International Tchaikovsky Competition is held in different countries. During its existence, since 1992, the competition has been held in Russia, Japan, Korea, China and European countries. The jury includes only eminent maestros and outstanding musicians from different countries. Apart from objective assessment, the jury provides master classes for competition participants.

 

SERGEY ROLDUGIN, MEMBER OF JURY, RUSSIA:

 - We are creating the future of musical art, not only the Kazakh or Russian but the global art. Look how many countries have sent their talents to take part in the competition. In the future, they will make their contribution in the global art and glorify their countries  

 

This is the tenth International Tchaikovsky Competition. Thousands of talented musicians took part in it over ten years. The competition became a launching pad to the worldwide recognition.
