Third season of Astana Opera theatre ended with a grand gala concert. Soloists and artists of the theatre were pleased with the enchanting performance. Arias from ‘Semiramide’, ‘Manon’, ‘Don Pasquale’, as well as local music were performed on the stage. Serke Cavatina from ‘Aisulu’ opera and, aria from ‘Tugan zher’ were perceived by public with especial warmness. Ballet dancers were the decoration of the evening. The troupe represented a brilliant Grand Pas ‘Paquita’ ballet for the closing season premiere. This is a story about a beautiful girl, who lives in the gypsy camp. Aygerim Beketayeva, the leading ballerina of Astana Opera danced the Paquita party.
Aygerim BEKETAYEVA, LEADING SOLOIST OF BALLET, ASTANA OPERA:
We close our season by excerpt from the ballet, premiere of the ‘Paquita’ ballet. All leading soloists are involved. This is great that all leading soloists can show themselves in different ways. Each of the dancers have their own variations and, everyone can express themselves. As for me, I play the leading part the solo with a boy. This is purely classical, where you need to show the advanced techniques.
The third season of Astana Opera theatre gave the audience more than 300 different productions. ‘La Boheme’, ‘La Traviata’ and ‘Aida’ operas have already become the integral part of the repertoire and, were received to a full hall of admirers. Moreover, Astana Opera presented two premiers, ‘Abay’ and ‘Madame Butterfly’ operas. ‘Abay’ opera was under production of not only domestic, but also Italian experts. Giancarlo del Monaco directed the opera, whereas Esmukhan Obayev, the People’s Artist of Kazakhstan was an adviser. The play tells the story of the great Kazakh educator and poet Abay, his passionate love and, tragic death of his pupil Aidar. Modern technologies were used to create the decorations.
Baigali MOMBEKOV, HEAD OF OPERA TROUPE, ASTANA OPERA:
‘Abay’ opera is still the pinnacle of Kazakh opera. The play was grand. We didn’t have such performances as ‘Abay’ opera before. The decoration was very original, the huge burial shrines, great library of Abay and, as well home of Abay were all depicted. Then there was an original decoration of the Kazakh yurt. When the Kazakh yurt was deployed, you can see the steppe.
The season turned out to be fruitful for the ballet troupe. There was a lot of work on premiers as ‘La Bayadere’ and ‘Notre Dame’. The latter was a real challenge for Astana Opera artists. The ballet was represented as symbiosis of classic style and modern plastics.
Altynai ASYLMURATOVA, ARTISTIC DIRECTOR OF BALLET TROUPE, ASTANA OPERA:
All these premiere ballets were elaborative. ‘La Bayadere’ is very voluminous and complex, and for corps de ballet, and soloists. The ‘Notre Dame’ has a completely different style. I must say that it was very hard in the beginning, but later things worked out for the good. The director was very pleased with the results.
Astana Opera plans to perform in fourth season the premiere of ‘Kyz Zhibek’ opera and ‘Don Quixote’ ballet. In addition, the entire staff of the theatre expects another challenge as EXPO-2017 is at our front doorstep. According to Astana Opera, there will be interesting performances. So, guests of the world exhibition will be able to fully enjoy the best theatre performances.
