Central Asian countries are strengthening the intercultural ties. Experts consider film festivals as special venues for cooperation in the film industry as well as exchange of the creative experience among filmmakers, screenwriters and actors. Recently Bishkek hosted a film festival. Kazakh filmmakers presented several movies at the 7th International Film Festival titled "Kyrgyzstan is a country of short films." The films showcased at the festival are the works of beginners in this industry. These debutants got opportunities to be assessed by their colleagues in the festival held in Bishkek.

- This mass culture slowly accustoms people to the so called clip consciousness, when the maximum information is presented in a short time. For filmmakers and creative people short films are a good way to express their thought and what they want to say to the world as short as possible.

Guests from Kazakhstan had to withstand a tough competition. This year more than 200 filmmakers both from foreign and domestic market applied for the contest program. The hosts of the event presented 15 works to the jury. The selection was conducted in genres like gaming, documentary, animation and experimental cinema. The jury which consisted of directors from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Georgia and Armenia, reviewed films in four categories: Best Picture, Best Director, Special Jury Prize and the Audience Award.

 - Under the chairmanship of Russian film critic and historian, Sergey Zemlyanukhin, film director and screenwriter Ernest Abdyzhaparov, film producer Anar Kashaganova, film director and screenwriter Nana Janelidze and cameraman Arto Khachaturyan evaluated the films presented at the festival.

According to critics, the short film perfectly corresponds to the spirit of the times. It is a rapidly changing genre that reflects all the trends and techniques of the film industry. Therefore, the short films are always popular among the  spectators and are highly appreciated at international competitions. Accordingly, the experience gained by participants in such projects is significant. Last year the international festival titled "Kyrgyzstan is a country of short films" was scheduled for Chingiz Aitmatov’s birthday.
