III World Nomad Games: Kazakh Kuresi (Wrestling)

The competition of Kazakh Kuresi took place at the Third World Nomad Games.

Wrestlers from 70 countries competed at the arena in this sport in three weight categories. The winners in the Kazakh Kuresi final matches include athletes from seven countries, such as Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Russia, Estonia and Mongolia. At the Nomad Games, wrestlers competed in 12 wrestling styles. Kazakh wrestlers took an active part in the events and made their contribution to Kazakhstan team’s scores. Kazakhstan is represented at the games by 50 athletes.

ABYLKAYIR MAULEN, WINNER, KAZAKHSTAN:

 - I competed against the Kyrgyz athlete in the final match. Kyrgyzstan is Kazakhstan’s competitor in Kazakh Kuresi. I easily defeated the World Champion in this sports event. Previously, I competed with Mongolian, Tajik and Russian athletes and I won. I have achieved my goal. I wanted to win a gold medal. In honour of the victory, our national anthem was played.

 - We have good results in other sports. Our athletes are well prepared. They trained hard for this large-scale international event. Our goal is to win gold, silver and bronze medals.
