The countries of the region are effectively implementing joint projects as part of the initiative. These new developments are opening new prospects, contributing to the development of the economies as well as the transit and logistics infrastructure, including expansion of road transport networks. According to charge d’affaires of the Chinese embassy in Kazakhstan, Liu Jianping, the Central Asian region is playing a leading role in the Silk Road Economic Belt and has a great potential.

LIU JIANPING, CHARGE D’AFFAIRES OF CHINESE EMBASSY IN KAZAKHSTAN:

 - Central Asia and China have more than 2000-year history together. I think that this region has both the rich history in the past and the great prospects for the development. I want to reiterate that Kazakhstan has established a golden example for the development in Central Asia. Kazakhstan has already found its own way which is relevant to the unique features of the country.

Kazakhstan was one of the first countries in the region to support the Chinese initiative. Kazakhstan and China are currently implementing 51 joint projects. Construction of the light-rail transport system in Astana is an important part of the cooperation as part of the Belt and Road Initiative. The LRT in Astana will consist of 18 modern stations, 10 underground passages and 8 land passages. The Chinese investors allocated almost US$2 billion in this project.

LIU JIANPING, CHARGE D’AFFAIRES OF CHINESE EMBASSY IN KAZAKHSTAN:

 - This project was signed in 2015 in the presence of the leaders of the two countries and has a strategic importance both for Kazakhstan and China. We already implemented a lot of mutually beneficial projects in the past. I think that the LRT project will also be successful.

Kazakhstan and China also cooperate in energy, light industry and agriculture industries. According to experts, such cooperation opens new prospects and creates favorable geo-economic environment in Central Asia.
