Kazakhstan’s transport and logistics industries demonstrate strong growth

Kazakhstan’s transport and logistics industries demonstrate strong growth. Last year, the infrastructure sector has contributed 4.3 trillion Tenge to the country’s GDP. The value makes up 8.2% of the economy. Within one year, investments in the sector have increased by 37%. In total, 578.5 billion Tenge was invested in the transport and logistics industry in the first half of 2018. According to Energyprom.KZ, Astana, Atyrau and Mangystau region make the largest investments volume. Today, a number of projects in the transport sector are being implemented in the country. The projects include the modernization and expansion of a network of oil and gas pipeline, the upgrade of airport infrastructure, the development of Aktau seaport and Khorgos dry port and the construction of highways and transport corridors, which includes the ‘New Silk Road’ Pan-Eurasian project.
