In five years Kazakhstan will launch a new satellite

In five years Kazakhstan will launch a new satellite. KazSat-2R. The new satellite will replace KazSat-2 as the latter’s warranty period of operation will expire by that time. The new model assembles the most advanced technologies. Due to the satellite launch, the signal power will be increased to 1728 Megahertz, which is twice the current level. It will cover more than 4,000 television and radio networks, cellular communications and satellites.

BAUYRZHAN KUDABAYEV, DEPUTY PRESIDENT, REPUBLICAN CENTER OF SPACE COMMUNICATION:

 - The Digital Kazakhstan program has many goals. One of the most fundamental goals is 100% Internet coverage of the entire country. E-government can be brought to remote areas of Kazakhstan. We need a more powerful satellite of the Earth in order to achieve these goals.

Kazakhstan has two communication apparatuses and one geo satellite. KazSat-2 and KazSat-3 are at a distance of 39,000 kilometers from the planet. They are managed from two space communication centers. The main center is located near Astana while the other is in the Almaty region.

ROMAN YERMASHOV, DIRECTOR, ‘KOKTEREK’ CENTER FOR SPACE COMMUNICATION:

 - We naturally fulfill goals which were initially set and designed and the operation of the facility is conducted in the regular mode, as it was planned.

It is a refusal of assistance from foreign partners and the implementation of a full cycle of control of the space complex by our own team.

Space communication centers are unique facilities which are capable of operating in an autonomous mode for a month in summer and two weeks in winter. For this purpose, there is a power unit with two diesel generators and a water reservoir for 500 cubic meters.
