Investment attractiveness of Kazakhstan’s agricultural industry

Chinese companies are investing US$200 million in Kazakhstan’s agro-industrial complex. According to the China-Kazakhstan Association of Food Industry Entrepreneurs, Chinese businessmen are ready to share their experience as part of the One Belt, One Road initiative. As part of this cooperation, the Kazakh producers will get access to latest technologies for raw materials processing and the new markets in China. Moreover, as part of the joint project, training centers will be established to train the new generation of agricultural specialists.

ZENG LIYING, DEPUTY DIRECTOR, CHINESE STATE ADMINISTRATION OF GRAINS:

- Our delegation held the first talks with the officials of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Agriculture. I believe that the leaders of the two countries and agrarians will be able to reach mutually beneficial agreements. I think that the Chinese market will be accessible for Kazakh businessmen.

KEMELKHAN ABILEKOV, PRESIDENT, CHINA-KAZAKHSTAN ASSOCIATION OF FOOD INDUSTRY ENTREPRENEURS:

- Thanks to the agreements signed between the leaders of the two countries, Kazakhstan delivers wheat, seeds, sunflower seed oil and rapeseed oil and other types of agricultural products to China. Moreover, organizations located at the border of China are supporting us. We are also working on alignment of the national standards of the two countries.

The officials of the two countries signed the agreement in October 2017. According to the members of the association, the two parties are currently working on making the Chinese market more accessible for the export of the Kazakh goods.
