Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan: Joint projects

Kazakh and Uzbek entrepreneurs plans to develop export opportunities and share the experience between each other. According to businessmen from the two countries, such mutually beneficial cooperation will allow the Central Asian republics to export products successfully. 400 entrepreneurs of the countries discussed this cooperation at a joint forum in Shymkent. The main goal of the meeting is to expand business contacts and search for new opportunities to create joint projects. In addition, participants believe that these discussions contribute to further development of bilateral trade and economic relations.

ZHANSEIT TUIMEBAYEV, GOVERNOR, SOUTH KAZAKHSTAN:

 - Over the past five years, it has been small and medium-sized businesses that have doubled the growth of the gross regional product, and the share of industry has grown to 27 per cent. More than 1,000 of these enterprises successfully cooperate with Uzbek entrepreneurs in trade, industry, agriculture and construction.

In the first quarter of this year, total trade volume between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan has increased by 50 per cent. The trade turnover between the countries reached US$2 billion in 2017. Last year, the trade volume between Uzbekistan and the South Kazakhstan region increased by almost 12 per cent and exceeded US$622.5 million. Products of the chemical industry and metallurgy as well as flour are considered as the most popular goods in the Uzbek market.
