Kazakh food producers are boosting meat exports to foreign countries. Last year, enterprises of the West Kazakhstan region supplied over 1,700 tonnes of beef and 500 tonnes of lamb meat to foreign markets. Foreign consumers are interested in purchasing organic food made in Kazakhstan because of the high quality. On top of that, the local meat production plants are equipped with the latest technologies. Veterinary experts from Iranian companies that concluded contracts with the Kazakh producers for the supply of chilled meat visited the meat plants in Kazakhstan to learn about their operation.

RAKHIM NAGMETOV, TECHNICAL DIRECTOR OF ENTERPRISE:

 - Last year, we exported over 350 tonnes of frozen lamb to Iran. The whole process from pre-slaughter treatment to the dispatch is monitored by the authorized doctor who monitors the Halal slaughter process as well.  

Kazakh meat producers and their Iranian partners have extended contracts and agreed upon meat deliveries for this year. Chinese experts also visited the enterprises and conducted their own inspection. They included the local enterprise in their list of suppliers.

SATKAN OMIRZAKOV, SENIOR STAFF, WEST KAZAKHSTAN REGIONAL AGRICULTURE DEPARTMENT:

 - In the first quarter of the year, regional enterprises exported 590 tonnes of beef, 423 tonnes of which was shipped to Armenia, 55 tonnes to Russia and 112 tonnes of canned meat was delivered to Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Local meet producers also exported 143 tonnes of lamb, including 108 tonnes to Iran.

To boost the regional export potential, the Kazakh government provides soft loans to agricultural producers. According to the regional agriculture department officials, currently, there are over 500 thousand heads of cattle, and over one million sheep in farms and private farmsteads of the West Kazakhstan region.
