Cooperation between Kazakhstan And Kyrgyzstan
Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan will step up cooperation. Experts on international cooperation say about the great prospects for cooperation. According to them, the meeting of the presidents of the two fraternal countries is an important step towards further expansion of strategic and economic ties. This is some sort of a starting point of a new cooperation stage.
URAZGALI SALTEYEV, LEADING EXPERT, INSTITUTE OF WORLD ECONOMICS AND POLITICS, FUND OF FIRST PRESIDENT OF KAZAKHSTAN:
- Why is Kyrgyzstan interested in such a strategic partnership with Kazakhstan? Two things are important for them. Firstly, cross-border trade is very important for Bishkek's economy. This is specifically the re-export of goods across the Kazakhstan border. Secondly, they are interested in Kazakhstan’s investments. If the new leadership of Kyrgyzstan creates more favorable conditions, then I think that Kazakhstani investors will become more active in the Kyrgyz market.
Over the entire time, Kazakhstan has invested more than $800 million in Kyrgyzstan’s economy. According to experts, this is far from the limit. Kazakh investors are ready to increase the volume of financing, if the partners create favorable conditions for business, including as part of the regional and Eurasian integration.
AIZHAN MUKHYSHBAEVA, LEADING EXPERT, INSTITUTE FOR WORLD ECONOMY AND POLITICS, FUND OF PRESIDENT OF KAZAKHSTAN:
- Mutually beneficial partnership between our countries directly affects the integration processes within the Eurasian Economic Union. This is very important for all members of the union. For example, Kazakhstan is the way to the EAEU for Kyrgyzstan. All goods from Kyrgyzstan pass through Kazakhstan. Therefore, the development of political and economic ties is very important for businessmen of the two countries, and for the Eurasian Union.
According to experts, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan will continue expanding the economic partnership. The commodity turnover between the republics has exceeded $300 million in eight months. At the same time, the growth of Kazakhstan's exports is twice as much as Kyrgyz imports. Petroleum products, wheat and mixture of wheat and rye, flat products and mineral water: these five types of products account for 37% of exports. Kazakhstan delivered goods to Kyrgyzstan worth more than $161 million. Basically, it was oil, oil products, ores and concentrates. The Kyrgyz side imported meat, dairy and confectionery products worth $10 million to the Kazakh market.
