Kazakhstan exported more than 100,000 tonnes of grain to Iran in 10 months of 2017. The growth of indicators is the evidence that Kazakhstan’s products are in demand abroad. In addition to supplying grain to the Islamic Republic, Kazakhstani agricultural producers export 2,000 tonnes of frozen mutton and 200,000 tonnes of fodder crops, including rapeseed, oilcake and barley.

DAUREN YESMAGAMBETOV, DEPUTY CHAIRMAN, NATIONAL COMPANY:

 - Iran offered to use the capacities of its flour milling enterprises to process Kazakhstan’s wheat for the further sale of finished products in the markets of such countries as Iraq and Afghanistan. This proposal poses great interest to our country and will be thoroughly examined.

OLZHAS ZHUMAGULOV, ADVISER OF KAZAKH MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE:

 - If last summer we agreed on frozen mutton delivery terms with Iran then at this meeting, we have concluded agreements on its export. At present, we are discussing the delivery terms of beef with the Iranian side. As part of the visit, we have reached an agreement on export of seeds of rice varieties from Iran, which are in demand on the Iranian market. In this regard, we will sign a comprehensive plan on rice production in Kazakhstan followed by export to Iran through the ports of the Caspian Sea.

Kazakhstan is also interested in the Chinese market. A cargo train with 82 cars filled with the latest harvest of Kazakhstani wheat is heading to China. The train carrying more than 1,700 tonnes of wheat departed from Atbasar in Akmola region to Xian. The shipment takes 36 hours. Modal cargo transportation is beneficial in many terms.

SERIK KAINIDENOV, HEAD OF ATBASAR RAIL STATION:

 - These containers can be shipped partially by rail, partially by waterway and partially on highway. That is, these containers will be shipped without unloading and reloading from the warehouse to the final destination.

More than 320,000 tonnes of wheat have been exported to China since the beginning of the year. Workers of this elevator are loading the containers for the next shipment. This grain will be exported to Italy. As suppliers note, other rapid delivery options to foreign markets are also being considered.
