Increasing the export potential of the agro-industrial complex is a strategic task for Kazakhstan. Experts say the industry has every opportunity to conquer new markets.  Meat Union of Kazakhstan will be supplying cattle to China. The two sides signed the corresponding agreement. According to the chairman of the association Maksut Baktibayev, Kazakhstan is planning to export up to two hundred forty thousand head of sheep, cows and horses to China annually. In addition, Chinese investors intend to attract $600 million in the economy of Kazakhstan, which will be aimed at increasing the breeding stock.

MAKSUT BAKTIBAYEV, CHAIRMAN, MEAT UNION OF KAZAKHSTAN:

- This is the logical outcome of the great work carried out by the state, which resulted in creation of all this infrastructure, which meets all modern requirements, similar to, let's say, the Australian or American technologies. That genetics, which was brought in 2010-15, gave results. This will give a tremendous impetus to the development of our economy in the next 5-7 years, for the development of small-scale, medium-sized farming.

North Kazakhstan agricultural producers are increasing export volumes of meat and meat products. Agreements on the supply of lamb to Iran, China and Russia have been already signed. A number of enterprises are engaged in the meat processing. European equipment is installed in one of them, all the processes are conducted according to the latest technology. The workshops’ production capacity is up to 10,000 tonnes of products per year. One shift processes up to 700 sheep and 250 heads of big cattle. The enterprise is focused on the export of chilled meat in vacuum packaging. The first batch of products has already been shipped to Iran.

NASSER KYAREMIIRANIAN VETERINARY CONTROL SPECIALIST:

- As a representative of the veterinary service, I control the quality of meat in factories in Western Kazakhstan. This enterprise follows all international standards, the quality of meat is very high, we are also satisfied by veterinary requirements. Approximately 20 tonnes of frozen meat comes with the first shipment; the contract is worth about 10 thousand tonnes.

Agricultural production cooperative in Zelenovsky district of the West Kazakhstan region intends to conquer the market of a neighboring country. They will export meat products to Russia. Some part of the meat will be sent to the regional retail networks and sausage factories. The "Agricultural Support Fund" provided a preferential loan to agricultural producers.

NIKOLAI SUPRUN, CHAIRMAN, AGRICULTURAL COOPERATIVE:

- We did not even think that we would work for export. At the moment, we want to work for export. We have clients from Russia. We can work with them. We can export 20 tonnes of beef, 20 tonnes of lamb.

ARYSTAN ARSLANBAYEV, DIRECTOR, WEST KAZAKHSTAN BRANCH, FUND FOR FINANCIAL SUPPORT OF AGRICULTURE:

- The proximity of the region to the border will let the cooperative produce products both for the domestic market and for export. Representatives of the Russian Federation, commercial organizations came to see the opening of the slaughterhouse. They inspected the cattle, the forage, slaughtering, it is planned to conclude a contract for the supply of mutton and beef to Moscow.

At present, the volume of exports is growing by an average of 7% in the West Kazakhstan region. Agricultural producers of the region are planning to send 2,000 tonnes of beef to foreign markets by the end of the year. In 9 months the region has already exported more than 200 tonnes of lamb.
