Transport, construction, food industry, tourism and many other industries in Almaty are becoming more attractive for foreign investors. Investors from Sweden and Turkey are interested in healthcare; Japan will join soon as well. German electric buses manufacturing plant will open next year. Almaty is attracting investments. Over the past two years, private investment in urban projects has grown 25%, including foreign investments growing 20%. The annual international Almaty Invest forum participants discussed the future prospects of the city. It was attended by more than 500 people from 28 countries.

BAUYRZHAN BAIBEK, MAYOR OF ALMATY:

- The city authorities provide land plots with a ready-made infrastructure for innovative, export-oriented and import-substituting industries on preferential terms. 40 large projects worth $600 million are being implemented at present. Seven of them involve foreign participants. High-tech companies can operate at a special economic zone, the Park of Innovative Technologies.
