Kazakhstan is actively implementing large investment projects in export-oriented sectors of the economy. A new sunflower seeds processing plant has been launched in Kostanay region as part of the Industrial Innovative Development program.

20 tonnes of sunflower seeds per day are processed in these workshops. The plant produces sunflower oil. It is planned to produce nearly 2,000 tonnes of sunflower oil per year. The produce undergoes five stages of quality control. The product is then supplied to all regions of Kazakhstan. Production will be expanded in the near future.

 - We perform the analysis after the first press and then after the second, before and after refining and finally before bottling.

 

The plants management is planning to manufacture other products as well. They say that the equipment can be easily modernized in the future.

 

GENNADY BAKAI, SENIOR STAFF:

 - We process sunflower seeds but we may add some other oil-bearing crops if we have necessary equipment.

 

Five more investment projects in automotive, mining and processing industries will be implemented in the region next year. The region is attracting foreign and local investors.

 

YERBOL SULEIMENOV, REGIONAL DIRECTOR, INVESTMENT COMPANY:

 - We are attracting investors to both raw material sector, where we plant and export the grain, and to deep processing.

 

Six large projects will be launched in Mangystau region. They are energy and house-building plants, and gas equipment manufacturing enterprise. One of the projects, a steel-foundry, will be opened in the end of this year.  3,000-tonne vegetable warehouse will be put into operation soon. This project is also needed to ensure the food security of the region.

 

SHOLPAN ILMUKHANBETOVA, DEPUTY GOVERNOR OF MANGYSTAU REGION:

 - We have good results. We attracted 220 billion tenge of investments from various sources in the first half of the year. It is 15% higher than last year.
