Astana International Financial Center (AIFC) will actively cooperate with the the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). Representatives of the two organizations negotiated on cooperation in such spheres as ‘green’ business, digital economics and banking. The ESCAP works to improve the socio-economic situation in the regions, provides consultation to governments and assists in staff training. The organization participates in the development of innovations and is planning to launch a number of projects as part of the Astana International Financial Center.

KAIRAT KELIMBETOV, GOVERNOR, ASTANA INTERNATIONAL FINANCE CENTER:

 - Taking into account the geographical location, Kazakhstan serves as the gateway to Asian markets for the western countries. We have ambitious plans to connect Astana with the world’s largest financial centers such as Shanghai, Bangkok, Beijing, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Kuala Lumpur, as well as New York and Tokyo. We are happy to receive recommendations, ideas and proposals of the ESCAP members and believe in our successful cooperation.

BARBARA MEINERT, SPOKESPERSON, ESCAP:

 - We believe that the AIFC could develop; it has all the potential to develop, to be an international center for financial technology, to be a fin capital of the world. We look forward to working closely with the AIFC authority to further success of our project and maybe to bring even other friends and colleagues.

Foreign economists highly evaluate the financial center’s potential. The AIFC will integrate projects of Kazakhstan, China and Russia, the department head of the Institute for the CIS countries, Aza Migranyan, says. According to the expert, the new center will concentrate investment transactions on assets of the EAEU member states.

AZA MIGRANYAN, STAFF, INSTITUTE FOR CIS COUNTRIES:

 - Accumulation of transactions of the CIS and the EAEU assets in this center, and especially, I think, the accumulation of transactions connected with Chinese projects will have great chance to success. It is the conjunction of the One Belt, One Road and Nurly Zhol programs with the Silk Road economic belt. This is the interaction of the three integrations.

Astana International Financial Center will start its work in January next year. The region’s financial and economic hub will occupy the Expo town site after the exhibition ends.
