The legal advisory council of the Astana International Financial Center met for the first time in the United Kingdom. The spokesmen of top companies who specialize in the English law and financial sector took part in the meeting. These spokesmen intend to cooperate with the legal advisory council. It plays a key role in the development of necessary regulatory acts and in further successful functionality of the center. The Council will promote the implementation and application of the principles, norms and precedents in the common law of England and Wales. The head of Astana International Financial Center Kairat Kelimbetov highlighted the significance of the experience of the council members including companies like Baker McKenzie, Norton Rose Fulbright, White & Case and etc.

-On the other hand these companies compete against each other. It’s very interesting to collect different proposals and listen to a wider discussion. Indeed, these are high level experts who will help us in further work.

 

Leading lawyers of the UK pointed out the high potential of the international financial center and declared their readiness for cooperation in the implementation and application of the principles of English law and the use of the best world practices.

Kazakh President has imitated the launch of Astana International Financial Center. Its goal is to form a leading platform for financial services, creation of favorable conditions for foreign investment into Kazakhstan’s economy and its integration with international capital markets. Furthermore, the center intends to develop insurance and banking services as well as Islamic finance.
