Apple holds $215 billion in offshore companies and would have to pay $65.4 billion of taxes for 2015, in case of cash back to the United States, reports the New York Times citing a new research of U.S. PIRG Education Fund. Companies from Fortune 500 were able to hide trillions of dollars from tax authorities in offshore profits. 73% of companies of this ranking have subsidiaries in offshore zones. $718 billion would be received if all companies paid taxes on sheltered income. In 2015, the U.S. Federal budget deficit reached $438 billion.
