The demand for foreign medical services remains fairly high in Kazakhstan. Experts forecast international tourism to grow 20% in 2016. According to the International Association for International Tourism, Kazakhstanis choose to receive treatment in hospitals of Israel, Germany, Switzerland, Turkey and China.

Aiya ZHOLAMANOVA, GENERAL MANAGER, INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL CENTER:

According to the WHO annual bulletin on international tourism, Kazakhstan nationals spent $208 million on medical tourism in 2015.

Experts pay attention to another trend, this is displacement of geography of international medical tourism towards the countries of the Asian–Pacific region.

Aiya ZHOLAMANOVA, GENERAL MANAGER, INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL CENTER:

The price range has moved into a more prosperous side in these countries. For example, treatment of cardiac, neurosurgical and hard-surgery used to be more in demand in China and Singapore. Now Korea is gradually taking the leadership position. Asia is becoming more and more popular due to higher costs associated with treatment in the United States, Switzerland and Germany.

Experts also claim that their foreign colleagues are always open to cooperation with Kazakhstan physicians. Moreover, new joint medical clinics for treatment of complex diseases are opening across Kazakhstan. There are rehabilitation centers equipped with advanced foreign medical technologies.
